The CTE Expo presentation connected with me because a lot of the ideas shared were bigger than just business. They were about mindset, leadership, and taking action on opportunities. Hearing someone speak about entrepreneurship from personal experience made everything feel more real and achievable.
Personal Connection
As a student, I related to the message of applying what you learn in school to real life instead of only focusing on grades or diplomas. One of the biggest takeaways for me was understanding that success comes from execution, consistency, and surrounding yourself with motivated people.
The speaker’s journey showed me that entrepreneurship is not something reserved for adults or people with a lot of money. It starts with ideas, effort, and the willingness to take risks.
Entrepreneurship Journey
SafeBallot
Learning about SafeBallot stood out to me because it showed how one idea can grow into something impactful. Building a digital voting system, investing money into it, working with engineers, and even speaking to Congress demonstrated how innovation can create opportunities at a very high level.
This inspired me because it made entrepreneurship feel more possible. It showed me that even students can create projects that solve real problems and gain recognition.
Entrepreneurial Principles
Several principles from the presentation affected the way I think about success and leadership:
- Create something better, faster, and cheaper
- People buy personality, not products
- Emotions over code
- Be innovators, not imitators
- Do everything to the best of your ability
These ideas helped me realize that success is not only about having technical skills. Communication, creativity, and confidence are just as important. The quote about people buying personality reminded me that relationships and authenticity matter in every field.
Community Impact
Playbook Project
The Playbook Project was one of the most inspiring parts of the presentation because it focused on helping families in San Diego. Feeding 415 families showed that leadership is also about giving back to the community.
This affected me because it changed the way I view success. True success is not only personal achievement, but also using your position to help others.
Youth Leadership
The youth leadership programs and school initiatives demonstrated the importance of creating opportunities for younger generations. It motivated me to think about how I can contribute to my own community and become a better leader.
Marketing & Branding
The discussion about partnerships and branding showed me how important visibility and networking are in business. I learned that building a strong brand is about creating connections and standing out from others.
The story about starting a marketing company through selling shoes also showed me that entrepreneurship can begin from simple ideas and personal interests.
Sales Experience
Door-to-Door Solar Sales
The sales section connected with me because it emphasized resilience and consistency. The speaker explained that sales is a numbers game, and success comes from continuing even after rejection.
This lesson can apply to many areas of life, including school, sports, leadership, and future careers. It taught me that failure and rejection are part of growth.

These ideas reinforced the importance of communication and relationships. It made me realize that the people around you can influence your mindset, motivation, and future opportunities.

The mindset section impacted me the most because it focused on vision and personal growth.
The quote “Closer than you think” reminded me that goals can feel impossible until you break them down into smaller steps. The idea of being “Free to dream” encouraged me to think bigger about my future and not limit myself.
I also connected with the message of envisioning the best possible outcome because confidence and mindset often determine how far someone is willing to go.
Overall Reflection
Overall, the CTE Expo presentation inspired me to think differently about entrepreneurship, leadership, and success. It showed me that innovation starts with action and that anyone can create opportunities if they are willing to work hard, network, and stay consistent.
The presentation motivated me to focus more on leadership, creativity, and applying my skills in real-world situations. It also reminded me that success is not only about personal accomplishments, but also about making a positive impact on other people.
